NEW BOOK!

A new, evidence-based, book that demystifies ear acupuncture by describing the complex network of nerves leading signals from the ear to the brain. It describes how ear acupuncture, ear acupressure (by beads, seeds or magnets) and electrical stimulation in the ear (taVNS) modulates neurotransmitters and hormones and thereby improves pain and other somatic symptoms, boosts the immune system, and enhances psychological wellbeing.

The book gives hands-on instructions, including a detailed manual for ear acupuncture and ear acupressure in pain, migraine, sleep, anxiety and depression, neurological diseases including epilepsy, cardiovascular and metabolic diseases, withdrawal symptoms and drug craving, allergic rhinitis, gastrointestinal, urological, gynecological and pregnancy related problems. The suggestion of points is based on research, referring to hundreds of scientific articles and reporting the level of evidence for each symptom. Finally, the book discusses the rationality of using ear acupuncture and ear acupressure as an adjunct in a wide variety of health care settings. The book is useful for all health care professionals, including acupuncturists, students and decisionmakers.

The first edition of Öronakupunktur (in English “Ear acupuncture – a practical guide”) was published in 2004 and is a standard work in Swedish on the subject (Kajsa Landgren, “Öronakupunktur”, 275 pages, self published). The book contains, among other things, the history of ear acupuncture, comparisons between ear, body acupuncture and other microsystems, explanatory models, detailed chapters on materials, methods for examination and treatment, practical tips, description of over 200 reflex and function points, clear point maps, extensive point bank with suggestions for treatment for various symptoms, a chapter on NADA acupuncture, ear acupuncture for addiction and mental illness. Öronakupunktur can be used as a textbook and as a reference book in the daily acupuncture work. It can also be read by a wider readership with a general interest in ear acupuncture.

“Öronakupunktur vid beroende och psykisk ohälsa” (Kajsa Landgren, 2022. 192 pages, own publisher) is a book for anyone interested in acupuncture and non-pharmacological treatment of anxiety, sleep problems and withdrawal.
